Review: House of Judges (House of Royals #4) by Keary Taylor

House of Judges (House of Royals, #4)House of Judges by Keary Taylor

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I am beyond a day late and a dollar short on this review, I know.
I fail at life…Cast your stones.

Okay, the review. Keary Taylor has done it again. I keep wondering how it’s all going to work out, but then as the plot unfolds it’s like

Of course how else is this supposed to go down?? But I digress.

House of Judges if a whirlwind of information, suspense, longing, and giddy anticipation.
No spoilers but just to tease….

The Information: We learn so much more about the vampire world, court life and even Alivia’s family. Being as she is a descendent of the third son, we finally get to meet the old codger, Dorian! Okay so technically he’s forever frozen at a young age, but technicalities….eh.

Suspense: What is going to happen to Alivia, to her house? What about the attacks that have been happening and why would they want to frame her???

Longing: Alivia and Ian are reunited…in prison, but they’re also separated by their cells and their actions. They sooo want each other

but then there’s King Cyrus and his twisted self, and Raheem with his affections and pet name ‘my nofret’. What’s a girl to do?

As for giddy anticipation….well I guess you’ll just have to read the book and suffer the same feelings I went through. 😉

I was transfixed from the very first book not only by her characters, but their development and the plot. *squees and shudders*
Yeah, I know. I get too excited about character development. And this book was a doozy of character and plot development its like how many epiphanies can occur in one novel? And well the little nugget that was unearthed at the end of the book.

Totally saw that coming from the very first, but well yeah there is something BIGGER happening here. And you need to read this book so then we can talk about what-the-ever-loving-frick is going on!!! So go forth my House and devour House of Judges then return to me so we can talk about what is going on here. PLEASE???

Review: Soul of Flame (Imdlaind #4) by Rebecca Ethington

Soul of Flame (Imdalind, #4)Soul of Flame by Rebecca Ethington

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WYN! <33

I’m going to start off by saying that I absolutely LOVVEEDDDD how much more of Wyn we got in this book, I mean she’s fabulous to begin with, and now she’s dealing with so much. Imprisonment, these powers that have been hidden, then losing them, worrying over Talon, watching and wondering what the heck is going on with Ryland, and what Sain is doing.

The plot buildup holy hallucinations, Batman!!! This was like the tidal wave over buildup, so much that you know–you know–something, someone big is coming, but it still evades us.

I understand why some people were a bit peeved, a lot of this book is repeating events that took place in Scorched Treachery, only from other POVs, we see the other side of the coin now, and what was happening while Joclyn was trapped in Cail’s mind. While Ilyan is on the other side of the world. What had Edmund Cain and Ryland been up to? So questions are answered. I get it. We all want to move forward, resolution, and normally, I’d be right there with you. But in this case I truly think that we needed this bit of insight, perhaps not as much as we got, it could’ve been shorter than the about 50% of the book it is right now, but oh well, I had fun reading it and digging into the breadcrumb clues, scrapping together these new bits of character information and shocking revelations!

No Spoilers people. You know me.

And since there were huge stride in character development (especially of one of my faves, mis Wynifred) I am soooo on board with this book! I mean we finally know about Wyn’s past! and omg, trauma mamma!! No wonder it plagues her sleep. So many secrets, her own and others’.

*giddily claps hands*

Okay I have to stop talking about Soul of Flame because I now need/want to goo read it.
I suggest you go and read it too!

Review: House of Royals (House of Royals #1) by Keary Taylor

House of RoyalsHouse of Royals by Keary Taylor

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hold onto Your Crowns!

This book pulled me in right away. There was no dilly-dallying, there was no long intro into the plot or characters. Bam we enter at Conrath House with Alivia and we learn with her, meeting new intriguing(Rath), beguiling(Ian), and downright evil people along the way(Jasmine and Micah).

There are others of course but those seem to be the main people who stood out to me.
As a main female protagonist, I really and truly like Alivia. She isn’t so weak and fickle that you want to shake her and tell her to man the heck up but she isn’t overbearing or too strong of a personality that you just hate her. Though I can feel that she’s shifting changing but indolent know if it’s for the better or not!

Ian. Oh Ian. Now there is a gosh darn strong-willed person lol. He has his own moral compassion and opinions and he sticks by them…even if he totally disregarded them by falling in love with Alivia. There’s a big no-no for both of them.

Rather. Will you ever not be a mystery? Or is mysterious and kick-ass your only two roles in this series? I don’t mind, just stay close 🙂

Jasmine Micah and the other House Members…well I just don’t know.

Guess we’ll all have to read Book two to find out more especially with that ending…I mean what the H-E-double hockey sticks Keary!

Review: House of Pawns (House of Royals #2) by Keary Taylor

House of Pawns (House of Royals #2)House of Pawns by Keary Taylor

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Born to be No one’s Pawn

House of Pawns is a thrilling, fast-paced novel. It picks up just where the first book end and runs like the wind.

For the most part it seems that Jasmine is left behind while Alivia figures out Ian, her own house and the coming of the King, but she is still there, lingering in the background.

I absolutely loved this book, I loved the emotional ties, and if you have ever read my other reviews before, you’ll know I’m a big fan of character growth-which this book had in spades and plot twists, dips and reveals.

Who else suspects something even MORE now with Daphne after reading this book? What the deal. With curses and why do I feel she’s involved?

Raheem…now he was a nice and fun surprise. I didn’t think I was going to like him as much as I do, and now that Cyrus is here…Will he become just a figment of my imagination?

Everyone of her House Members I’ve fallen in love with, but oh my god, why the hell can’t I figure Rath out?? He’s a wonder, beautiful conundrum!

My biggest bone, and probably only bone, is that is felt so forced or unnatural, the way that Ian and Alivia were pushing and shoving against each other in this book, house it seemed like one big set-up for something else, or just a way to get Ian out of the way. It actually reminded me a lot of Chaol and Celaena in The Throne of Glass series, and how it made way for Calaena and Rowan. Raheem, are you her new princely toy?

Besides that (the 1 star mark-down) I loved this book!! and I’m so looking forward to House of Kings…in fact I’m going to start reading it immediately.

Goodbye fellow readers, Keary-lovers and friends

Review: House of Kings (House of Royals #3) by Keary Taylor

House of KingsHouse of Kings by Keary Taylor

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4 1/2 Stars!

Okay so I admit, I read House of Pawns, then dove straight into House of Kings…And read them both in ONE DAY!

Yep. That’s right. They were that good. I had to know what was happening.

Just like with House of Pawns, this book picks up right where the last one ended! Alivia took a pill to end her own life, Ian came in through her window beggin her to leave with him, but it was too late. There was commotion. Someone drained her. The world went black. When this book starts, Alivia, the House and certainly the reader is in for a ride. She is in bloodlust, and her whole world has changed, King Cyrus has changed the game, and Ian is gone. And we all know from experience that Alivia does NOT cope well when there is no Ian.

So she undergoes a metamorphosis in several ways, but struggles repeatedly. It like whiplash with her demeanor the whole book. I don’t know who she is anymore and I don’t think she does either. It broke my heart honestly.

Cyrus, Cyrus is a tool. I love him. I Hate him. I love to Hate him. And above all of that…I pity him, honestly truly pity the guy who just wants his wife, but has become a monster and will spend the rest of eternity looking for her to have only a moment in time before she’s gone again.

And can I just say AWWWWWW. I never thought that the members of Jasmine’s House would be so damn loveable, but here I am Just wanting to cuddle and hold them all.

This whole book I was waiting to see if Alivia was Sevan, but knowing all the while she wasn’t and watching the world come crashing down around everyone in the political game Henry never wanted her be a part of. And Rath!! Rath broke my f*$^ing heart. He is the one who stands out the most to me from this book, well him and the ending. That just completely shattered what was left of my heart.

But honestly, I was enraptured, and Raheem I was sooo conflicted over his character. I love him he is perfect book boyfriend material, but I just felt so wrong or guilty or something with him and Alivia. I just don’t know!!!! Though we did see less of him this book, what with the King being here, and him being a jealous man, especially if she IS his wife.

But like my review, I felt the plot of this book was over the place not too chaotic, but enough that I was unsure of where I should be looking. Author’s intent? Throw me off the scent of her true game and plot or twist…who knows. But I am completely ready for the next book. Oh, that right this one has to release first. C’mon hurry up. We haven’t got all day!
