The New York Times bestselling Driven series continues with a story about finding love where you least expect it…

Behind the wheel, racing champion Zander Donavan is at the top of his game. But after too much excess in his personal life, he’s forced to step away. He needs to accomplish something all on his own—outside of his famous father, Colton Donavan’s, shadow.

Getty Caster is running away from the abuse that clouds her past. She thinks she’s found the perfect escape—until she discovers a stranger in the beachside cottage she’d been promised. He’s undeniably sexy, but she’s there to heal. Alone.

Before long though, fighting with each other turns into fighting their attraction. And giving into desire sets off a chain reaction that has their pasts colliding. With an unexpected love on the line, can they overcome the fallout to build a future?

EXCERPT

“You don’t know anything about me.” My voice is slight but strong, my need to assert myself front and center despite his calling me on the carpet.

“That’s where you’re wrong, Socks. I might not know where you’re from or why I ruffled your feathers today, but I know you’re stronger than you give yourself credit for. Whatever it is that you ran from back home, you did it. You got out and are making it on your own. That takes guts and you deserve mad props for that. I know you like things messy and are goddamn cute when you’re tipsy. I know you’re stubborn as hell and gorgeous as fuck. And that your kiss tastes like an aged whiskey: something I want to sip slowly, feel on my lips, savor on my tongue, and take my time with before I get drunk on it.” With a lift of his eyebrows and a nod of his head, he walks past me, leaving me with my mouth agape and eyes wide.

I can’t move. Just stand staring at the door in front of me as I try to process what he just said, what he meant by it, and yet there’s no use because we just had a whole one-sided conversation and that need to banter with him is gone. Lost to the tingling in my lower belly and the wild spinning of my thoughts.

“Oh, and, Getty?” Zander calls out to me from the kitchen, refusing to continue until I turn to face him, standing there unabashedly shirtless. “If you ever call me pretty again, we’re gonna have a real problem. I guarantee you there is nothing pretty about me.”

I almost smile at the fact that out of all of the crappy things I said to him, that is the one that bugged him the most.

“You are kind of pretty, though,” I murmur, unable to resist goading him further, needing to try to get us back on an even playing field. Because hell if right now I don’t feel like I’m on the low end of the teeter-totter.

His immediate response? A snort to signify that his chiseled abs and the tall, dark, and handsome thing he’s got going on are nothing more than average.

“Last warning, Socks.” His eyes flash with mirth. And what looks like desire.

An unexpected part of me—the one who usually hides and doesn’t ever take a chance—wants to say it again. Just to see what he’d do if I did.

“So damn pretty.” I don’t know who’s more shocked at my comment, him or me, but we stand there for a moment, gazes locked, unspoken words warring across the distance between us.

He walks toward me with a predatory gleam in his eyes and a salacious smirk on his lips that catches me off guard. “I know I said you were brave, Getty, but now you’re just playing with matches.”

I draw in a long inhale as he steps right in front of me. I can’t look at him. My nerve is suddenly gone. Outside, rain pelts the roof. The constant drip into the bucket in the hallway serves as a metronome to this anticipatory silence we are dancing in. The goose bumps on his chest are the only thing I can focus on.

When his thumb and forefinger direct my chin up so I’m forced to meet his eyes, every part of me hums from his touch. From the want of something I don’t quite understand myself and couldn’t ever put into words. Our eyes meet—his intense, mine searching for answers that aren’t his to give—before his gaze flicks down to my mouth and then back up again.

“Not yet, Getty.” He closes his eyes for a beat, and I see what I think is restraint reflected in his grimace, before a ghost of a smile spreads on his lips. “I don’t think you’re ready to light this fire just yet.”

Keane Morgan wouldn’t return any of my calls or texts, and I was pissed as hell about it. I didn’t want to drive from Seattle to L.A. with the guy any more than he wanted to drive with me, but I had no frickin’ choice in the matter–at least, not if I wanted to use his brother Dax’s coveted parking spot at UCLA.

Okay, so it turned out Keane was objectively gorgeous, and, fine, pretty funny, too. But did he have to be so damned in love with himself? I mean, jeez, the cocky way he flashed those dimples was just so orchestrated. And, honestly, what kind of guy uses the phrase “baby doll” with a straight face? Oh, that’s right: the kind of guy who’s a male stripper.

Yup, the cocky jerk turned out to be Seattle’s answer to Magic Mike, a stripper known as “Ball Peen Hammer”–which meant Keane Morgan was emphatically not the kind of guy I’d ever fall for.

Not. At. All.

No freakin’ way.

Well, until Keane convinced me to fall for him, that is.

Which I did.

Hard.

Review: All the Rage by TM Frazier

All the RageAll the Rage by T.M. Frazier

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OH HOLY RAGE BATMAN!!

If you’ve read the King series you’re definitely going to want a piece of this book with Rage’s story and special appearances by Bear, King and Thia.

I’ll admit that the very beginning of this book was hard for me to get into. But on the other, I was trying to read it while on vacation in Hawaii with my family and 10 month old nephew, so I’m calling it a moot point.

This book is all about the Rage, about having such foreign emotions and feeling so alienated from life. I spent the entire book wondering what it is to be Rage, to be unable to help yourself to the heat and passion of anger, violence and the thrill of the kill…and then she met Nolan.

I loved the dichotomy that is Rage. How she feels so much! And at the same time people say she is unfeeling. I mean seriously she reacts voraciously to a speck of dust, she knows she has issues with being hypochondriac and other things, but wile she fears germs, anger takes the forefront in almost all of her actions. Only Nolan seemed to be able to tame that spark in her.

Nolan. Nolan. Nolan. I mean seriously can I just once not read a Frazier book and fall in love with the guy then feel like I’m cheating on the other men she has created. Poor Bear and King…totally cheating on them with Nolan now. He is just mmm.. Okay I’m getting so close to spoiler territory that I’m hating myself a little, on top of being very rant-y. So I’m cutting myself off!

All I have left to say is this:
If you’re a fan of TM Frazier, or even if you’ve never heard of her before I so recommend her work. This book could be read as a stand alone or as part of the King books as it spins off of those characters and world.

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.

I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.

He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.

So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.

When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.

I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room.  Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.

When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.

But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stores about our fake childhood.

My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.

When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.

I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people?

Then again…

What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

Review: One Week Girlfriend (One Week Girlfriend Quartet # 1) by Monica Murphy

One Week Girlfriend (Drew + Fable, #1)One Week Girlfriend by Monica  Murphy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Quick, Sweet and Lonely storySo I actually read this book a while ago, like a couple years ago, but I thought I had reviewed it. You’re probably wondering how this book can be all the things I described it as above. Well the story just flies by, the pacing a quick canter through the lives of Drew and Fable and their one week romance. While they’re together, everything seems brilliant the crap in their lives can fall away. And yet they’re both more lonely than ever with the burden of family or friends, the pressures of their real lives, not their make-believe romance which press down on them. Drew is the star quarterback with shining lineage, Fable a girl barely making ends meet for herself and her brother while trying to conceal the truth of her mother from their lives. As you know characters and character development are very important to me, and I loved the development of these two individually and how they grew and changed together. What bothered me and made this a 4* review was the rote plot at times, either clicheed scenes or finicky emotions. I felt like Corky Romano may have had a hand in a few parts (you do, you don’t, you do, it’s okay if you don’t). But like I said, that was only at some points, what really drew me in was Drew and Fable and knowing that their story does continue, that this wasn’t the end for them, makes me so happy and you can find me at the end of Second Chance Boyfriend!!Read this and ~Let the Ink Run Free

Review: The Deal by Elle Kennedy

The Deal (Off-Campus, #1)The Deal by Elle Kennedy

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Elle Kennedy and the Off-Campus Series has been blowing up my timelines for weeks, and when The Deal went on sale I caved and bought it.

It was worth every penny. The Deal is a read that will keep you glued to the pages till the very end. It’s sweet and sexy. The characters are relatable. The guys are hot. The heroine, strong.

Garratt and Hannah had undeniable chemistry and I loved to see everything from Garratt’s perspective. While he had been manwhoring before Hannah, he knows she’s it for him after they sleep together. And it was great to see that turnabout come in him. Hannah, she’s a strong lead, but I hate when a character can’t see what’s right in front of them, they’re so smart, but there’s something about them or their past that jades them or blinds them to the truth. IN this instance, Hannah is hung up on another guy when her ONE is right in front of her.

I had a little problem with how easy the resolution was. From Hannah running from Garratt, into her “dream-man’s” arms only to realize she loves Garratt, but still thinking he’s a player, then With one word from him running into his arms and HEA.

And it seems to be happening a lot in the books I’m reading, so I’m not singling out The Deal. I hate angst because I hate feeling so on edge 24/7, but at the same time, when there’s such an easy resolution I feel like a book that had been really conversing and developing just becomes another fluff piece because it couldn’t handle a little grit. That’s life though, even if we don’t always like it–and books should often be a reflection of that.

Despite the semi-fluff ending I really want to real the other books in this series and anything else by Elle, with this one book she has won me over.
