Are You Gonna Be My Friend? A Daily Prompt Reply

How do I make friends? Well I don’t know. I guess friends kind of make me.

I was always a shy kid. I didn’t like meeting new people. I liked having the people already close to me that I could let go and be a goof. I guess you would call me an ambivert–that medium between introvert and extrovert. I was shy at first but once I let go. Holy hell, I hoped you liked me otherwise you probably go running for the hills.

Over the years I realized that there are many different personality types, and depending on the setting and IF I wanted to, I could fit into any group. But let’s be honest; who likes to pretend being someone else? So occasionally I will blend in with the different factions. But my ultimate technique to making friends? To just be myself. This crazy, random girl is who I show to people and they seem to like her. I’m able to make friends in classes and talk to people I’ve never met (on my own, no introductions). It was a long lesson, but eventually I was able to9 loosen my introvert’s hold on my personality. The extrovert is much more fun-loving.

A quip or witty remark. A movie quote or song lyric thrown into conversation can be a great way to form bonds. Or maybe that’s just my wishful thinking and I’m just delusional. I’ll let you be the judge of that.
